Genk confirmed this in a statement released on their website on Monday.
In Sunday’s league game against Club Brugge, Genk lost 3-0.
Genk had the chance to take the lead in the 18th minute but Arokodare missed from the penalty spot.
The penalty miss angered some of the club fans who took to social media to throw racist insults at the Nigerian.

“After the match against Club Brugge, Tolu received a series of racist reactions on social media,” the club stated.
“KRC Genk and everyone involved with the club condemn the reactions 100%.
“Racism has no place. Not in football stadiums, not on social media, nowhere. Unfortunately, racism is still deeply rooted in football and by extension in society as a whole.
“It is a shared responsibility to put a stop to this. As a club, we do everything we can to track down those responsible and report them to the police.“
Arokodare has scored eight goals and has provided two assists in 27 league games for Genk this season.
