New Super Eagles invitee Nathan Tella has explained what Nigerian fans should expect from him as he looks forward to making his debut for the team in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Tella got his first call-up to the Super Eagles and could make his international debut in the qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The Bayer Leverkusen forward had his first training session with his new international teammates on Tuesday, 14 November inside the Godswill Akpabio International stadium.

In a chat on NFF TV after the team’s training session, Tella described what fans should look out for as the games against the Southern African teams edge closer.

“Someone who is direct, who makes a lot of runs, in behind, like to get into one versus one situations to dribble and also to score and assist my team.”

Speaking on his first training session he had, he described it as very good.

The 24-year-old expressed delight to be part of a talented Super Eagles squad.

“My first training session with the Super Eagles was good I'm with very talented team, very good players and it's nice to be a part of them and they welcomed me well I'm happy and looking forward to the upcoming games.

“Just playing with the best players in the country. I always want to push myself and challenge myself to play with the best and be among the best. I got the opportunity to do it at club level now I can do it at international level so it's a big opportunity for me.”
