PDP Rejects Tribunal Judgment, Says Judges Disregarded Facts, Evidence

The People’s Democratic Party did not agree with the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that Bola Tinubu won the presidential election on February 25.

In a statement released by its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said that the court’s decision went against logic, facts, and evidence that had been given in court.

The ruling “goes against logic, the facts and evidence presented in court, the relevant electoral laws, guidelines, and regulations, as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended),” the PDP said after having a chance to review the PEPC’s decision.
The statement went on to say, “In fact, the ruling is fair when it comes to technicalities but falls short when it comes to doing justice in the case.”

The opposition said that it was a party that followed the law and that it and its lawyers would carefully look over the ruling and decide what to do next within the law.

The PDP asked Nigerians to stay calm and united, saying that the party will continue to lead the fight to protect Nigeria’s democracy. The party also said that it would continue to make sure that the people’s will, as shown in the election on February 25, is honored and restored.

The PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, went to court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Mr. Tinubu because he was declared the winner of the election.

In its decision, the court turned down all three requests from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and Mr. Abubakar.
