Controversies as PEPT’s Released Judgement File Bears APC Legal Team Heading

0

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal gave its Final Judgement on the 6th of September 2023 and afterward released the Judgement’s Document to the Public.

Since the release, there have been controversies and massive confusion and doubts over the Judgement passed by the Tribunal, dismissing Peter Obi and Abubakar Atiku’s case against the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last Election.

The public has taken to social media in a bid to question the Judgement after the released document. The document has a watermark of the APC Legal team. It reads “Tinubu Presidential Legal Team (TPLT). Since the public raised an alarm over the discrepancies, a member of Bola Tinubu’s legal team, Babatunde Ogala explained the speculations about the TPLT watermark on the PEPC Judgement.

“Following some mischievous insinuations being made in certain quarters regarding the innocuous watermark of copies of the consolidated judgment of the court of appeal with the inscription “Tinubu Presidential Team (TPLT)” it has become necessary to offer this clarification. After the delivery of judgment in the three election petitions by the court of appeal on September 6, 2023, the court directed its registry to make physical copies of the same available on September 7, 2023.

Accordingly, the Tinubu presidential legal team applied for a certified true copy of the said judgment and paid the prescribed fee. Lawyers from PDP were present at the registry at the same time to collect the same judgment. In fact, the representative of the PDP collected the first copy that was made available by the registry. On collecting our own copy issued to us and other parties in the petition by the registry do not contain the said inscription and any insinuation to the contrary is untrue.

Counsel to the petitioners will also appreciate the fact that the insinuations being circulated in some quarters are untrue, unkind, unfair, and unfortunate as they have the same certified copies of the judgment as we have.”

It should be noted that the PEPC re-confirmed the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the 6th of September, 2023 in an election many Nigerians see as a Rigged and shabby Election. The Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi and PDP presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku as well as their respective Parties have both rejected the Judgement passed by the Tribunal and are both ready to appeal at the Supreme Court.
