FRSC to establish two more Area Commands in Abia – Sector Commander, Ugwu

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in Abia State, Paul Ugwu, has said plans are on to establish two more Area Commands in the state.

Ugwu who made this known in Umuahia during his visit to the Secretary to Abia State government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, said the Area Commands when established, would help to quicken responses in the event of road accidents.

The Sector Commander described his organization as a relevant body saddled with the responsibility of ensuring road orderliness as well as reducing the rate of accidents on Nigerian roads.

He said the FRSC would always ensure that drivers adhered to road safety measures, which will in turn, protect the lives of road users.

Mr. Ugwu called for the construction of a pedestrian bridge at the Ubakala junction point of the Aba-Umuahia -Enugu federal highway to safeguard pedestrians crossing the busy expressway.

He further appealed to the State government to include the FRSC in the State’s security council and to provide his Command with operational vehicles to enhance their operation across the state.

Receiving the Sector Commander in his office, the Secretary to the Abia State government, Professor Kenneth Kalu described FRSC as important to every state government, based on the important role it plays.

Kalu assured Ugwu of the Abia State government’s readiness to always collaborate with the FRSC in transport, traffic, and safety policies.
